The Consulate Host the President of the Muslim Women Society of Nigeria.

 VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS MUSLIM WOMEN SOCIETY OF NIGERIA DR. MRS TOYIBAT GBADAMOSI TO THE CULTURAL CONSULATE OF THE EMBASSY OF THE I.R OF IRAN ON JUNE 12 2012.

The visit of the President of the UNILAG Muslim Women Society of Nigeria, Dr (Mrs.) Toyibat Gbadamosi, to the Consulate made room for a protracted discussion especially on important issues affecting the country particularly the Muslim women.

She gave a brief introduction to the role of the Association, which is to assist one another in spiritual upliftment and moral advice. The women were also given a place in the school where they learn and memorize the Holy Qur’an and Arabic Language. To further improve on the facilities of the school, they solicited to the Embassy for computers which will further aid their learning process.

She also informed Mr. Javadi that UNILAG Muslim Women Association operates under the umbrella of Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria, (FOMWAN), which is a governing body tying the various association of Muslim Women in Nigeria. They have 36 branches in all parts of the country and 43 executive members who head different Mosques in the Country both at Local and State level. Annual meetings of the Association are usually rotated among states.

Mrs. Gbadamosi also used this opportunity to invite the Consular to their special annual Pre - Ramadan Lecture which will hold on the first Saturday prior to Ramadan at the University Mosque. In addition to this, she requested for a lecturer from Iran to teach them how to make arts and crafts at one of their programs of which the Consular assured her that the Iranian government will grant the request if after due compliance with the procedure involved.

 The Consular told her about the commencement of the AHLUL BAYT Qur’an and Islamic Centre and introduced the Director of the institute, Mr. Ahmad Assafa to her. He also informed her about the coming of a great Quran reciter from Iran who would soon participate in one of the Annual Ramadan Lecture where he would share his experience on how he learnt to recite and memorize the Holy Qur’an.

Furthermore discussion on how to improve the Arabic language and memorization of the Holy Qur’an ensued of which to cement the ties; Mrs. Gbadamosi said she shall introduce the Qur’anic Institute to Professor Badmus, who is the Chief Imam of the University of Lagos Akoka. The Consular thereby informed her about the forthcoming “Week of Special International Exhibition at the Cultural Consulate" on Muslim Women’s Clothes and office wears. At the event, about forty different fashion designs are expected to be on display. In this regard, he requested for names of Muslim fashion designers in Nigeria. The meeting was brought to an end with both parties pledging mutual support and assistance.
